Search entry

A search via the entry box is performed in the usual way. Several terms can be combined. Results will contain at least one search word, with those containing fewer words from a search string appearing later in the list.

Capital and small letters

There is one rule that applies to every word entered in the search box: if it is written in small letters, all forms will be found; if the word contains at least one capital letter, only the words written in exactly the same way will be found.
Some examples:
"chocolate" finds "chocolate", "Chocolate", "CHOCOLATE" etc.
"Left" finds "Left", not "left"

Umlauts and accents

The transcriptions ae, oe, ue always work for the German umlauts ä, ö und ü:
"Zuerich" finds "Zuerich" and "Zürich"
"Zürich" also finds "Zürich" and "Zuerich"
Accents are made transparent, e.g.:
"café" finds "café" and "cafe"
"cafe" also finds "cafe" and "café"

Search operators

For an advanced search, you can use operators when typing your query in the search box:
+ - AND OR NOT ( )
  • A + at the beginning of a word means that this word needs to be included in the results.
  • A - at the beginning of a word means that this word won't be included in the results.
  • x AND y means that both words need to be included.
  • x AND NOT y means that x needs to be included while y is excluded.
  • By using brackets, you can nest groups of words: x AND (y OR z) means that x needs to be included in the results, as well as at least one of the words y and z.

Phrases

If you put several words in quotation marks, they will be searched for in exactly the same order.
